a lot of people don’t know that the shithole town I live in is also home to one of the largest blimp hangars on the east coast, if not the country. college era: mother. mom. mommy. mama. her name is Nelia and i don’t know anyone who calls her that. she’s always been Teeny, as she is so small. i love my mom. i was a total asshole to my mom for a good 15 years.
i regret that. i regret so many things i said and did to my parents. especially right now…. when i just tried to call my dad and tell him a joke. and then i wanted to call my mother to tell her i called dad to tell him a joke.
i cannot speak to either of them.

got his “in the fight” shirt back from the laundry. he was wearing it before he called the ambulance. i remember giving it to him, unsure of if he would like it…. and his eyes lit up and he said “this is great!” and he (we) vowed to kick this trashy ass diseases ass.
he wore that shirt with such pride and hope, such a positive attitude and loved wearing it to chemo and telling the other patients his daughter gave it to him. (so i hear)
i have this shirt again.
i have someone else in my life “in the fight”.
she will get this shirt.
she will wear it with her positive attitude and her middle finger right up to that fuckin asshole called Cancer’s face.

i WILL give her the “survivor” shirt i never got to give to my dad. <3

the same week Maron’s book & tv show on IFC arrives, Louis CK is on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine with the caption of “the dirty wisdom of…CK” (his head on the cover looks life size!)
interesting parallels considering their past, and both having tv programs with some variation of their name as the title. I’m glad they are relatively friends again. 2 of my top stand ups ever.((I haven’t read either yet!))
